Creative Advertising for Your New Business

It’s a vicious circle— you need to advertise to get business, yet often until business starts coming in you don’t have the money for advertising. As a new business you need to be smart, and creative. Start by looking over the competition. How are they advertising and can you get any feel for the effectiveness of the advertising? Ask family and friends what type of advertising appeals to them.

Then spend some time thinking about what makes you different from your competition, and why customers would be better off coming to you. Give-aways can be effective, and so can piggyback marketing. An example of this would be to find a company that compliments your business and whose clientele would meet your needs. You want someone that sends out an emailed newsletter to these clients, so that you can advertise. Often e-mail will go into spam folders, unless it’s coming from a known sender. Utilizing existing e-newsletters are a great way to advertise for new businesses.
