Getting Yorkshire businesses growing again…

The UK’s top business planning company has chosen Leeds for its first venture in the North of England and is determined to help get Yorkshire businesses growing again.

Leading BPS Leeds is local businessman Peter Rivett-Jones, a former director and co-owner of Leeds advertising agency Poulters. Rivett-Jones was an obvious choice by BPS’ management to lead the company’s growth, having built and sold several businesses and undertaken Non-Exec roles in the marketing agency sector as well as running The Data People, a data planning consultancy.

Business plan support comes to Cambridge

Newly-launched franchise Business Plan Services has awarded its first territory to Cambridge-based Roger Hetherington.

Leading BPS Cambridge is a man who is already well known to businesses in the area. Roger Hetherington was, until recently, a senior manager with Business Link East, leading a team of advisors who provided help to local firms. He sees the new venture as an obvious move.

New National Franchise Manager for BPS

Newly-launched business services franchise BPS has appointed Ian Watkinson as National Franchise Manager.

Following a successful career in sales & marketing and general management in a B2B environment, Watkinson moved into franchising in the nineteen-nineties. He has since held senior positions with three international networks, including spending time studying the US franchise market. More recently he oversaw the launch and growth of a brand-new network, before joining BPS to coincide with its own launch.

With the demise of Business Link next month, the balance of business support provision is set to move from the public to the private sector. Whilst businesses across the UK will have no choice but to pay for support from now onwards, my thoughts are equally with the hundreds of Business Link Advisors who are now discarded casualties following years of loyal service with only grave prospects of re-employment among a crowded independent consultancy workforce.
